Unity of Man

The Academy is managed by the Unity of Man, a cultural charitable and spiritual organization working on International level. It strives to awaken man to an awareness of unity; the brotherhood of man under the fatherhood of God. Sant Kirpal Singh Ji, who dedicated his whole life to this ideal, founded “Unity of Man”. Due to his universal view, he could create mutual understanding among different faiths. In a period of fourteen years, he was repeatedly elected as the President of the World Fellowship of Religions, which came into being in 1957.

On his three world tours in 1955, 1963, 1972 he visited major cities of the western world, where he met religious leaders, politicians and eminent personalities of the society.

His efforts to create understanding among people hailing from divergent cultural backgrounds, his striving for peace in the world and for tolerance among the religions have been recognized internationally. He was awarded the prestigious “Golden Star of Malta”. It was awarded for the first time to a non Christian, which broke a thousand year-old tradition.

His efforts reached a summit when he convened the first world conference of Unity of Man, which was held in Delhi from 3–6 February, 1974. A significant feature of this conference was that it was one of its kind since the time of Ashoka. Over a hundred thousand people from all over the world including, high-ranking political, religious and social leaders from India and abroad participated in it. This world conference was the beginning of the noble movement of “Unity of Man”.
